Using SFGRID.COM Webmail
With the SFGRID webmail system, you can send or receive
mail from any internet browser any where in the world. Just log onto
the internet from a public computer at a coffee shop or your friends house,
then follow the instructions below and you will be e-mailing in no time.
How to Check Your Mail from a Web Browser
- Navigate to the SFGRID start page by typing
www.sfgrid.com in your browser’s address bar. Then press “Enter” on your
keyboard or click the “Go” button with your mouse cursor.
- Once at the SFGRID start page, from the “SFGRID
INFO” box on the left of your screen, select “Check SFGRID Webmail” by
clicking on it with your mouse cursor.
- You will be directed to the Webmail’s entry page.
You may also navigate directly to this page by typing www.sfgrid.com/webmail
in your browser’s address bar.
- Enter your user name and password in the appropriate
fields and then press “Enter” on your keyboard, or click the “Login”
button on the screen. Your user name is the portion of your email address
which appears before the “@”. For example, if your email address is
“jody123@sfgrid.com”, your user name would be “jody123”.
- You should now be at your Webmails’ “Folders” page. This page defaults
to your “Inbox” folder each time you enter Webmail. Your new emails will
appear as a list within the inbox page. Each email subject will be
underlined like an internet link. Clicking on the email’s subject opens
the message so you may read it.
Composing emails
Reply to emails
- You can automatically format a response to any email
you receive by clicking the “Reply” option above the body of the text.
This will address your response to the sender as well as copy their
complete message into your reply. This is useful if you need to reply to
specific portions of their message.
Attaching files to emails
·
When sending emails, you may wish to send additional computer
data along with the text of your message. Such information is known as a
“File Attachment”. This is useful for sharing images, for instance. Also,
should you wish to email an existing text document which was previously
created in a word processing program, sending it as a file attachment saves
you from typing the document over again into the text of the email. Be
certain that your recipient has the correct program to open the file you are
sending them.
- To attach files, click the “Browse” option in the
Attachment field below the text body field of the message you wish to
send. This will open a typical “File upload” browser.
- Navigate through the browser to find the file you
wish to send, select it, then choose “Open”.
- The file you have chosen will now appear in the
Attachment field. For additional files, select “Add”, and repeat the
process. You may add as many files as is necessary up to a limit of 2
megabytes of information.
Managing emails within folders
- SFGRID WEBMAIL allows you to manage your emails
within a system of folders. By default, WEBMAIL has a series of INBOX
folders. All new messages are automatically filed in your main INBOX
folder. Save a DRAFT of an email, such as one you have not finished
composing or do not want to send yet, in the DRAFTS folder. All messages
you send, including replies, are automatically filed in the SENT folder.
Send a message you are done with but think you might need later to the
TRASH folder (messages sent to the TRASH will reside there until you
delete them).
- To move messages between folders from your INBOX
folder, select the message by “Checking” it in the box that appears before
the senders address.
- Then click the destination folder from the Folder
Roll down menu above the list of messages.
- Finally, click the “Move” button to send the file to
the selected folder.
- Storage of messages on the SFGRID server should be
considered temporary.
SFGRID recommends that
you always download your emails to your own computer using it’s default
email application. |
